Hey, it's been such a long time, really ): So it's the new year, 2012 already. Hmm, i feel old already.
2011 has been a rather gratifying year in the sense that everything went pretty well without any major hiccups. Of course, i couldn't have went through this year without the help and support of my three besties, Ennen, Rebe and Dallia!
Just a few weeks ago, Rebe suggested that we head over to the newly-built Feresson Town for some end-year shopping. We've all heard great about the new Feresson Town which houses many
factory outlets of household names, like GAP, Levis, Mango etc. It would def be a great way to get our hands on some new stuff along with the festive sale! However, I suggested that we could do an audit of the clothes that each of us have, as it would give us a clearer idea on what we really need and avoid the frustration of realising that we have similar items at home. Initially, i was rather afraid that the idea would not resonate among the rest of them, but all of them were surprisingly cool about it! Dallia mentioned that she always felt that she was doing 'aimless shopping' and just buying for the sake of it, and we couldn't agreed more. And we could plan each others' xmas presents better!
So, we spent a very happy sunday afternoon rummaging through our wardrobes at each others' house. It all went very systemetically and we were done in...5 hours. To my surprise, I realised that i was second in rank for the most number of clothes items, with Rebe being first! I mean, her cupboard was practically over-spilling, totally resembling the one from Confessions of a Shopaholic. Actually, i realised that most of my items were rather...unexpected. I totally didn't realise that i had three pairs of apple bottom jeans from BOOT. I reckoned i had only bought one and the rest were probably gifts! There were also a lot of paraphernelia and accessories from Aunt Kellie in Singapore. I have from her several long-sleeved zipper shirts, some bandage skirts, cotton on crop tees, gray baggy shirts and one navy blue harem pants. I guess this is the trend in Singapore now? Oh, and not to forget the christmas present from Aunt Kellie who went to India last december! She delivered a really pretty red and yellow toga-ree dress, which was explained to be a fusion of the conventional toga and the modern sari, i love it so much :):) Hmm, you know how Indians wear their sari and cover one shoulder with a patterned fabric that also goes round their lower body? The toga-ree was fashioned to resemble that with a very clean and bold shoulder line and that red almost silky fabric was made to be the outer lining of the entire lower part of the dress! The under layer was a dreamy yellow hue that was rather tight-fitting. So it was a really gorgeous piece! Actually i feel kind of bad as i didn't really give much thought to her christmas present but hastily purchased a box of chocolates and a sheepskin diary at the eleventh hour. Still, she e-mailed me and thanked me for the gift, so i hope she genuinely enjoys it ;)
Actually after we were done with Rebe's audit, we felt so envious that we almost wanted to ban her from the trip to Feresson Town. I mean she has so MUCH already. According to the audit, she has 324 items!!! Her shoes took up almost one-third of that amount, i mean she probably has every single colour and design from the high-end shops. We asked her to pick her favourite, and she was absolutely spoilt for choice. In the end, she chose this leopard print black suedes and explained how it was timeless and matches with almost everything, which we agreed in unison. A few secs later, she amended her choice when she set her eyes on this MANIK-lo strappy kitten heels. See, get what i mean! Rebe also has the most amazing collection of jewelery. It's breath-taking actually when you get them all out and display them properly. Her jewelery has grown out of her storage chest, or should i say trunk? and we spent a good half hour sorting through the mangled earrings, necklaces, bracelets, trinklets, hair pins, hair bands and so on. When we found this dream catcher necklace, we practically gasped in delight. It's similar to the one that has been on the best-seller rack on Topshop, and when it was launched, there was actually a waiting list and we had thought about joining it but were advised not to by this strange woman in a grey suit. She told us that she had joined one previously, after a CK suit, and fell into a scam. The people informed her that after removing those who had pulled out from the waiting list, there were about 20 odd people left and an auction was to be held. However, a deposit of $500 was to be paid to attend the auction as it is to ensure that everyone turns up and that a fair auction could be held. So she transfered the money over, and went to the designated venue but there was no auction at all! Obviously, she was furious and called up but she was informed that the auction had ended within the first minute as a telephone bidder had offered $2000 for the suit, which retail price stays at $600. The worst thing was she was told that she would not get back her deposit as she had not actually showed up on time and the auction ended when she arrived so she was deemed as 'not showing up' for the auction. We were mortified after hearing about it and so decided against joining the waiting list.
